Survived, Rescued, Loved – Mindy gets a new life and love after being rescued at the Meriden Humane Society

I don’t know about you, but I like Pit Bulls. I know they get a really bad rap, as did German Shepards and Dobies a few years back. The truth is, like any dog, or living creature, pit bulls respond to how they are treated.  Treated with love and affection, they will return the same. Just ask Shorty, from Pit Boss who has made a career out of showing people the other side of these wonderful dogs.  In a funny twist of events I had the chance recently to photograph a rescued pit bull and her loving owner.  I had donated a pet portrait sitting to the raffle of a local pit bull rescue event. The women who won the raffle did have me photograph her dog – only it wasn’t a pit, she was a Lhasa Apso! Very cute and she made a great holiday card, but not what I had imagined when donating to the pit organization. Well, about 6 months later I get a call requesting a pet portrait sitting, and this time it definitely included a pit bull. It turns out the woman with the lhasa had attended the fund raising event because her brother in law had rescued a pit bull from the Meriden Humane Society and wanted to show everyone how love could change a dog! I was already convinced before showing up ready to photograph – how about you?
